About Lucy

This is the story of Lucy. Lucy entered MHCR as a confident, joyful pup from a high intake shelter in Texas. She was adopted into what we thought was a wonderful home where she would be nurtured, loved, and trained. When we got the email that Lucy was being returned, we couldn't help but feel disappointment. However, once Lucy arrived back into foster care, we felt relief. Lucy was now a timid, broken, fearful girl. We were so thankful to have her back so we could begin to rebuild her spirit. Over the past several weeks, the joyous, playful pup we once knew had returned. Lucy, now 9 months old, loves to play with her foster siblings and we feel her success in a future home will require the company of another playful dog. She adores her humans (adult and child) but is very skeptical of new people - especially men - and she will present as standoffish and alert. She's best suited in a quieter, patient home that can take the time to slowly help her rebuild her trust and work on her socialization. Her humans should be home often and have a yard of their own. Lucy is a bit of a barker right now as she's likely experiencing a lot of things for the first time. She's house and crate trained! Lucy is in foster in LaPorte.
