9/2020: 5 years old. Adopted back in 2015 as a kitten, Ripley, now known as BeeBee has been returned to the shelter due to financial reasons and behavior. She was being destructive in the screened in porch trying to get outside to the birds and animals. We feel a home with more stimulation (and no screened porches, lol) so she does not want to go out will be a better fit. Her owner stated she was well behaved when in the house. Indoor cats need stimulation and environmental enrichment. Some cats simply become bored at home, but others become frustrated by the inability to do what comes naturally: explore, exercise and hunt. That frustration can lead to behavioral issues at home. Once in the home, her behavior was fine. Using play and toys to tap into your cat's innate desire to stalk, chase, pounce and kill is a great way to enrich her environment and improve her overall well-being. Ripley has lived her whole life as an only pet so we are uncertain of her feelings towards other animals at this time.
