About Ziva - PENDING ADOPT

Welcome Ziva to the Saints and Angels rescue family!! Ziva NEEDS A FOREVER HOME! WE ADOPT NATIONWIDE AND DELIVER NATIONWIDE! Ziva, a Smooth Coated, 4 year old, Saint Bernard female, was found as a stray by a good Samaritan in Oklahoma. All laws were followed to assist in returning her home but no one came forward for her. She was then surrendered to us. She has done well with all dogs she's been exposed too, she never had an accident in the home and she walks amazing on a leash but does not know her basic commands sit, wait, down, etc. She was quite emaciated when found and she has been eating like crazy since, but does have some resource guarding issues with other dogs and her food. We will be working on this with her and working on training with her basic commands. She does not appear to know what toys are and she has a very laid back, very sweet demeanor. We will work on the resource guarding to see if its only due to food insecurity/emaciation or a bad behavior that needs correction. She appears to have recently had a litter of puppies and I would guess she was dumped by a breeder that no longer wanted to use her. She appeared in good condition, but does have some sagging on her belly and very large calluses on her elbows that will need some TLC over time, they get these from laying on hard surfaces. We have had her cleared by our vet, she has been brought up to date on all her vaccinations, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, spayed and received a dental cleaning. The vet estimates her age at 4 years old. Ziva appeared to have never been in a car until we picked her up, she was very leery of getting in but did incredible in the car once loaded. She will need work on getting in and out of the car, basic training skills and resource guarding. She needs a foster home while we work on her training and get her ready for adoption, she is a beautiful girl with the sweetest soul and definitely deserves a family that will treasure her instead of treating her like she is disposable.
