About

Adoption Fee: $75
Abyssinian / Burmese
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Jitter Jug aka Bug is a handsome fawn, cr̬me orange short hair male approx. 4yr. His adoption fee is $75. He has been vetted and neutered. He is afraid of other cats and dogs so Bug must be the only pet to have his people all to himself. He was rescued as a kitten from a lady who was taking him to the kill shelter. Over the years he has been introduced to other cats and dogs in the family but even with patience and time he is still terribly unhappy. His mom made the unselfish decision to rehome him so he can play and love without being on guard. PETS ARE FAMILY MEMBERS. PLEASE GET HELP IF YOU CAN NOT KEEP A PET. MAKE THE EFFORT! IT'S A LIFE! Most kitties don't just go into a new home and own it, they need an adjustment period. Patience, love and space will be needed. You cannot force him, that will scare him. Actually, you cannot force any cat, period. Bug is a people cat, he will want to be where you are. He is independent but needy, he gets very bonded with his people or person. He is very sweet and snuggly and will put a paw on your face if you don't acknowledge him long enough. He loves to snuggle on your chest maybe even on your face. He licks heads and faces, sits on whatever you're working on, and purrs the whole time. He is wary of strangers, so when company comes over he will be gone to a safe place. He will warm up to new people over time but will never love them like he loves you. He does not like to be locked up away from you, it will scare him and he will claw to get out. He has always had full reign of the house. He wants to be in the same room as you, mingle with you, sit and lay with you. He is not big on playing alone and will get bored with himself easily. Vet has recommended a puzzle feeder to help keep him mentally satisfied. He loves interactive toys like feather on a stick, shoe lace drag as well as the Fling ama String and the $2 'cat dancer' toys. He likes ping pong balls, miniature tennis balls and he goes nuts for the weird packing paper in the picture and his laser lite. He can be a rough player so ALWAYS play with interactive toys and not your hands. Hands could make him aggressive and we don't want him ruined. He is not mean, he can just get worked up and overstimulated. Just like any cat, read his 'cat signs' and stop what is irritating him. He likes a scheduled, predictable, quieter environment. He has a box with a blanket he likes to snuggle in, a laser pointer and the packing paper he loves to play in. He likes to puts his paws on your leg while he does his morning stretches, almost like using as a scratching post. His nails can poink you and need to stay trimmed once a month. He is an aggressive pooper and likes to kick around in the litter to make sure his business is covered. He needs an enclosed litter box with high sides. He likes to be brushed with rubber brushes not the wire ones. Most cats like different textures to scratch on so I recommend a rectangle corrugated scratcher that lays flat on the floor or a toy like turbo ball with the scratcher in the middle and a tall cat tree sitting in front of the window with sun rays beaming in. He will expect to share your bed. He likes kitty treats and has been free fed Nutro, a quality hard food (quality meaning the first ingredient begins with meat), he gets up to a can of Fancy Feast morning and night and he gets bottled water. His mom hasn't found a can that he likes but things change when environment changes. Below information is for preventative purposes'| Too many male AND female cats are getting the UTI - urinary tract infection and crystals in their urine. It's a blockage, it's painful and if ignored will lead to death. Vets say the hard food is at fault because it does not deliver enough liquids. It's simple to monitor. Just make sure there is at least one good size pee ball in the litter box a day. Kitty fountains are effective to help manage a cat's fluids. A diet of good quality canned food pate is better than dry food however there are some dry foods that are pH balanced and help maintain Urinary Tract - UT health like Blue Buffalo, Purina Pro Plan, Purina One UT health, Iams UT health. AVOID FISH! Cats/Kittens are an 18 year commitment! They need a cat tree, love and an inside home ADOPT Jitter Jug aka Bug FOR LIFE!
