***IN TRIAL-ADOPT HOME*** Hi, I'm RIVER! I'm a healthy, ~6 year old, handsome, loyal pup who is searching for a furever home that includes only one person that I can bond with. I have been professionally trained by spending 8 weeks in a board-and-train (Method K9 in Post Falls, ID). I now need a furever home with a leader who can remind me of all the good behaviors that I have learned. By the way, I can share any of the videos that show me in training with anyone who is interested in seeing more of me. My previous family obtained my ancestry...who knew that I had Australian Cattle Dog (41%), Border Collie (25%), Great Pyrenees (16%), and Central Asian Shepherds (8%) in me! I'm a good passenger in the car and enjoy my walks and adventures. On our walks, I am good on leash, check in with handler (see video), and am fine with other dogs. If walks aren't your thing, I enjoy fetching balls or toys in a yard for exercise (see video). In the home, I may even be good with cats. Might be a different story if they run from me as I am known to chase squirrels and tried to get to a cat who moved out from a bush, but who wouldn't? I just returned from an overnight with a volunteer admirer. She shared that I was super good in the home and even knew how to share the bed! I loved spending time with the little kids in my foster home, but because I'm not sure how to best behave with little kids at all times, we are looking for a home without small children. BACKGROUND: I was found on a steep incline just above the Snake River near Buhl, Idaho. My rescuers used a catch pole which I wasn't happy about, but I was relieved to have been rescued. I was on my own for a long time and my fur was severely matted and full of stickers and fox tails. After getting me all cleaned up, my rescuers found out that I'm a very friendly and loving boy who even gave a special 'thank you' hug to one of the volunteers.
