Long story, I paid $1000 for pet, and picked out the specific kitten. Upon arriving for final pickup, I noticed the larger kittens in a cage (possibly the dark one we had chosen), and meanwhile the breeder goes into another back room and grabs a very tiny unweened kitten. I do not usually like conflict, so I looked her in the eye as she pulled the switcharoo, and accepted my fate, knowing I would do the very best I could. Unfortunately he started biting right away. We gave him plenty of love and attention, but to the breeders point he needed to be around humans constantly and have other playmates be they children, adults or animals. I guess I was selfish, as I lived alone during the week and on top of that had to work with long commutes. I would get home and give him all of the attention and love I could, but he was so bored and lonely, again he continue to choose wrong choices and bite or scratch. I got him toys, scratching posts, cat trees, lights, tried TV fish aquariums. Nothing worked. I proceeded to get him fixed at 5-6 months hoping it might calm him a little. Tonkinese is a Siamese / Burmese mix so he definitely has his Burmese side, cuddles and purrs like you would not believe. Unfortunately I cannot sleep well, so I could not endure constant attention through the night with him fussing in the closet etc so I ended up closing the door to night attention. If you think you have what it would take to care for and love this wonderful animal with a heart of gold. Please contact me as soon as possible.
