About Blossom

**PLEASE READ BLOSSOM'S BIO THOROUGHLY BEFORE INQUIRING. ALL REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.** This is Blossom, our 4 year old/10lb beautiful Maltipoo girl! Blossom was taken to the shelter by her owners where they asked that she be euthanized because she was old and had too many medical issues. Well, the shelter vet examined her upon intake and discovered she was only 3-4 yrs old and had a severe yeast and ear infection. The shelter reached out to us to rescue her, and that's exactly what we did! We got Blossom the medical attention she needed and into a loving foster home where she was put on high grade food, supplements, medicated baths, and monthly grooming. It took us over 7 months to get her back into a good healthy state to be adopted. Due to the neglect her owners put on her, she has flare ups of skin issues, ear infections, and itchy skin, so we are ONLY looking for owners that will follow the exact same regimen that we have been doing for Blossom. It took us quite some time to get it right and if it is not followed, she can slip back into bad medical issues again. She is a sweet and loving girl, but does not like to be cuddles and toted around. She is like a cat...very independent and will come to you when she wants attention. If you pick her up too quickly or bump into her when she is asleep, she will do a little nip in the air at you, so a home with children is not a good idea. Blossom would do great in a calm and non chaotic home that allows dogs on the furniture. She LOVES to sleep on the headrest part of the couch and on your pillow behind your head. She has very short little legs, so doggy stairs will be required for her, one for the couch and one for the bed. With outdoor access, she is pretty good with her potty training, but she still will pee in the house 1/2x a day. She NEVER poops in the house. It seems to be more of a dominance/marking thing than not being potty trained. She will pee on potty pads. If you have carpet throughout the house, then Blossom would not work. We have seen that the fibers in carpet irritate her skin and because of her marking, it's not an easy clean up on carpet. She definitely needs owners that are financially ok with paying for monthly grooming, because she CANNOT be a long and fluffy dog. She needs a good short puppy cut every 4-5 weeks. During the spring and summer you will see that she gets a lot of allergies so she MUST get a cytopoint shot (for allergies) every 2 months which averages about $120. We don't want Blossom as an 'only' dog in the home. She loves the company and companionship of another sweet and mellow dog like her. She even plays a little with the dogs, but never rough play. She is not a barker. The way her owners left her in that condition, was unspeakable, but we have her on the right track now and are looking for someone who is committed to following what we do for her.
