About Max

**PLEASE READ MAX'S BIO THOROUGHLY BEFORE INQUIRING. ALL REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED.** This is Max! He is our 11 month old Maltese/Yorkie/Terrier mix who is about 14lbs of absolute puppy cuteness! Max needs a home that is puppy experienced and dog experienced. He is still young and chews things in the house, so he needs an owner that will keep all potential choke hazzard items off the ground. He takes quite a bit of time to warm up and feel safe in his new environment. We still have issues with picking him up, putting a leash on/off, etc. He does not like to be picked up and carried around or even just picked up, and because of this, he should not be in a home with young children that want to hold and cuddle a dog. He loves dogs and plays VERY ROUGH with them, so he needs a YOUNG and PLAYFUL dog his size or smaller that will rough house with him. A mellow or easy going dog will not work. He is not good on leash and still needs work. Max is ALL ENERGY and definitely must have a home with a secure backyard where he can run around in. HE CANNOT be an apt/condo type dog. Since he is very agile and can jump high and run fast, we are requiring a doggy gate 3ft high at the front door as an extra barricade for when the door is opened and closed. This is a requirement even if you have a secure screen door and a fenced in front yard. Max seems to be doing great with his potty training once he learns his set up and has outdoor access, but we never guarantee perfect potty training with a rescue pet. Max definitely has some Maltese in him, so he needs a home that is capable of taking him in for grooming every 4 weeks and brush him out daily. He's a beautiful dog that just needs a a little extra work, time, patience, and lots of love!
