About SMOKEY

SMOKEY! This handsome 6 year old Heeler X with a bob-tail came to us from a divorce/loss of home situation where, after learning that Smokey was going to be taken to the shelter, a friend of Smokey's owner asked for time to help find Smokey a safe place to go. Lucky for Smokey we saw her plea for help! Smokey is a sweet guy, shy, easy to handle, and has some insecurities from having little or no experience with being exercised or played with, I doubt he had been taken for a walk or run, or had a ball thrown for him, in years, if ever. He has no muscle mass and also, his back is healing from a bad skin infection caused by fleas, the fleas are gone and the hair is growing back in nicely. Smokey is already coming out of his shell and getting used to being out and about. Moving forward, he would love a quiet, patient home where he could go for long walks and runs, and experience care, fun, and love. He was fine with the cats at his previous home and has ignored the cat at his foster home. Smokey wouldn't be a dog for a first time dog owner, or for a home with lots going on. He is startled easily, young screaming children scare him. He needs focus and guidance himself from someone that knows heelers and has the time.
