About Snow

Adoption Fee: $300
Poodle
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Snow! He is a 3 year old Poodle who weighs 9 pounds. Snow came to us in rough shape. He had what we thought were deformities in his back legs. We were told he was born that way, but x-rays showed that at some point in his life (probably as a baby) his pelvis had been crushed and he had had a broken leg. After we took him to the vet for an evaluation the decision was made to amputate the broken leg. We were not sure if his other hind leg would be okay, but so far he is doing fine on three legs! What an ordeal for this poor baby! When Snow came into the rescue he also didn't trust anyone. He would run or hide from any human interaction, however he has made some amazing progress in the past two months with the love and patience of his wonderful foster family! He is still learning how to be loved but he has gotten used to being petted and is starting to give little kisses! He likes to lie on the couch near his person (but should be supervised in case he tries to jump down) and he loves to sleep in the big bed at his foster's home, although he does not like being under the covers. Snow will now allow his foster mom to pick him up and carry him outside to do his business or just to have some fresh air and sunshine. He still prefers his distance and will only come in on his own once the door is opened and a person stands back to let him enter. Snow is housebroken and has never had an accident in the house, and he knows how to use a doggy door. He will need to go to a home with no steps and he requires a home a fenced yard with easy access. He is good in the house and doesn't need to be crated or confined to an area when his people are not home. He usually will stay in his dog bed if his person is busy. He is good with other dogs his size and is just starting to be confident enough to try to run and play with them! We would like to find him a home with another small dog to help him continue to learn how to trust. He has not been cat tested. Snow should not go to a home with children. This shy boy would do best in a quiet, calm home. He is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. If you would like to open your home to this precious boy please submit an adoption application for review!
