Courtesy Posting: CODE RED - WILL MOST LIKELY BE KILLED TUESDAY MORNING, 9/8. EMER! PLEDGES/RESCUE/FOSTER/ADOPTER NEEDED ASAP- YOUNG RESCUE ONLY HUSKY/GOLDEN/SPITZ X-HI KILL BALDWIN PARK- ALREADY REMOVED FROM PETHARBOR, PLS HELP US RESCUE THIS DOG BEFORE KILLED KYLO - ID #A5378369 - RESCUE ONLY Baldwin Park Shelter, Baldwin Park, So Cal No one knew about this gorgeous young dog Kylo who has been a the high kill Baldwin Park since the end of July (and the shelter never bothered to reach out to even rescue partners). The same day I found out and inquired, he was later pulled from Petharbor and the shelter's site and likely to be euthanized the following morning. Apparently he was totally overlooked being listed as a husky/lab (definitely does not look lab) and hidden in the back building in quarantine, and someone only sent me his listing thinking he was part chow. After about 10 back and forth emails with the shelter, he is still thankfully alive. They told me he bit someone as they were bathing him or right after, and there was a prior bite, no further details were provided. And the shelter did not bother to get details oddly. But LA County and particularly Baldwin Park usually does not release repeat bite dogs even to rescues (and just euthanizes them) so thankfully they are allowing rescue. He requires an indemnity waiver, so he cannot go to a foster right out of the shelter and would need to go to boarding first and have someone work with him. We therefore need pledges asap to help pay for boarding, training, vetting as needed. We have only a little info go off of, we only know he's shy and allows petting, but is sensitive on his back, perhaps why someone got bit during the bathing. He needs to be further checked out. Again, we do not have details of the first bite at all, nor anything about his temperament from the owner who did not care to provide anything. Probably was in a bad home. This dog is only 4 and gorgeous, he appears to be part husky and some other spitz breed mix (other than a chow) or maybe a golden retriever. Please help us save him, you can contact me at [email protected] if you can pledge, foster or adopt once ready, or are interested in rescuing. We have very little time to get him out, the shelter has not stated how long they will hold him, but given they did not re-list him on petharbor or their shelter website, he probably needs out by Tuesday when they reopen.
