About LOKI

Adoption Fee: yes
German Shepherd mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

LOKI is about a year old and he has a story. He had been hurt by someone and he laid on a pile of garbage paralyzed for several days. He kept himself alive by eating the dirt around him that he could reach. When we got him to the vet, he was in severe pain from the impacted dirt and he could not stand on his back legs. He was scared. It took three days of fluids and enemas in the hospital to loosen the dirt in him, a few more days for him to eat, weeks of rehab to get his legs back, and months of helping him build confidence and lose his fear of humans. He is now a major player during playdates with dogs of all sizes, he loves all dogs and all dogs seem to love him. He's great with cats and although at first shy with humans, he is VERY affectionate with kind humans. He runs and plays, kisses, runs and plays, kisses. He is one happy dog! He's so grateful to be alive and healthy and loved . Loki is now a large, tall, one year old, lanky dog who would like to play all day. If you have another young playful friendly dog, he may be your forever dog. He's still afraid of leashes and closed doors, but if you can provide a safe, loving, patient environment, you will have a truly loving, interactive, affectionate companion You must have another friendly playful dog and live within our adoption area. Please read all info below. We're sorry, but if you email us or fill out an application that does not fit the parameters of our procedures we will not be replying to you. Thank you for your understanding! We have specific adoption and Covid rules listed below! Adoption fee includes neutering, vaccines, deworming, microchip. You must already have another young adult friendly dog. Please no young children. And please note our adoption area below. Revised adoption policy Due to Covid -19 pandemic and social distancing requirements, we've revised our adoption policy. First, please email ([email protected]) to inquire before you fill out the online application. (Please do not call or text). We are unable to do multi-dog/cat meetgreets or adoption events at this time or bring multiple animals to your house to choose from, so please only inquire if you're serious about adopting this particular animal(s). If you're just shopping around with several shelters and rescues, please let us know this. If your application is approved (which 'could' take up to one week) then we will contact you to set up a Zoom chat or ph call to answer questions/clarify anything and set up a day/time to bring the pet to you. Since we can't come into the home/yard due to Covid-19, we ask that you to send us pics /video of your home/yard/living area/current pets. We will discuss with you about meeting your other pets. At the meeting/adoption at your house (outside) please wear a mask (as will we) and have hand sanitizer. We adopt locally to Central Abq, Santa Fe, Los Alamos and Rio Rancho. No out of area adoptions inquiries please. No young children for our adoptions please. Puppies MUST adopt to families that have another young friendly playful dog of similar size when grown. These animals are fostered and our families like to know their fosters are happy, healthy, and cared for during their lifetime. We appreciate staying in touch periodically (social media, pics, videos etc :-)
