About Matty

This sweet, older boy Matty is in need of a new home. While he is not in immediate danger of euthanasia, he IS in desperate need of placement. Matty currently lives with a special needs boy who he loves dearly and is phenomenal with. Unfortunately, the special needs boy's outbursts are becoming violent toward the dog (& others). At the current time, Matty is being kept separate for his well-being and his special boy. This is causing stress for sweet, caring Matty who wants nothing more than to comfort his little human, and does not understand why he can't. Matty is now becoming fearful of his little man. The family really loves Matty dearly, but they desperately want to do what is in his best interest. Matty is about 5-7 years old and was adopted from the shelter. Given his scars, it is believed he was not treated very nicely by humans. Yet, Matty has the most sweet, caring disposition. He is very intuitive and amazing with kids. Although Matty really loves other dogs, he doesn't understand social cues. He would likely do best in an only pet home. Matty has been through basic training and knows his commands. He likes to play, but loves to cuddle.
