About Shay

From the streets to the e-list to a whole new lease on life, this beautiful girl is nothing short of incredible. Shay was originally found on the streets in critical condition. She was rescued by HARTT volunteers and taken to the Arizona Humane Society for treatment. They tended to her immediate medical needs but determined from some x-rays that she needed FHO surgery and should be euthanized. Her advocates at HARTT sent out a plea for a rescue to help her, and we just had to step in. We pulled Shay from the e-list, and we were committed to getting her all the medical care she needed, FHO surgery included. We took her to our orthopedic specialist, where we received the best news ever: Shay does NOT need surgery. She does have some right hip dysplasia due to genetics, but it is not something that is currently bothering her, and it's possible that it never will. She will need to remain on preventative joint supplements, but otherwise this girl checked out as perfectly healthy, super sweet and SO happy! Shay is an absolute doll. She would make an incredible family dog. She is great with children of all ages and is good with other dogs (doggie intro required, of course). She would love a friend her size to romp and play with! She does not like to be kenneled, but she is house-trained and is a very well-behaved, sweet, sweet girl. We promise that if you meet her, you are sure to fall in love.
