Meet DiscoverMe Cat SUMMER! | AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION or LONG-TERM FOSTER | EMAIL: [email protected] | SO CAL ONLY ---- Summer, summer, summertime... time to sit back and unwind'| and that's what our pretty gal SUMMER has been doing since joining our temp foster mom via the DiscoverMe Project! Foster mom says Summ is a sweet, affectionate and funny companion with excellent kitty manners. She's anxious to see her beautiful foster cat find the forever fam she deserves! Summertime and the livin' is easy. But it wasn't always so for our striking diva, Summer. You may recall earlier this year, we had a few handsome lads in our DiscoverMe Project who came from a home with too many cats. They were under socialized and struggled to find adopters of their own while at the shelter. We were fortunate to welcome a few of these fellas into the DMP, and lo and behold, they found their purrfect people!! Now it's Summer's turn! Isn't she exotic and intoxicating? Sometimes the photos of her ear tufts almost look like a lynx. And those golden orbs with the dark eyeliner! You can be drawn into that abyss quite easily, and if your hand happens to be absentmindedly massaging Summ's head, neck or chest, all the better. She'll even stand on her head trying to present her soft chest for scritches. She's a nonstop motor of purrrfection when she's being loved on. Too cute. Summer is a wonderful house pet. She's great flying solo but may be able to live with another well matched companion cat. After all, she came from a home with almost 30 others, however we tried her in a foster home with another female cat (who came to the shelter as a feral) and the two were not a match. We know for sure that 2 yr old Summer is totally fine on her own, with humans who enjoy her royal company. She's looking for an adult environment with low foot traffic. She likes her favorite perches where she spends most of her time but she doesn't jump all over everything, and she's great about only using her designated scratching pad. She's also an ideal coworker, not pestering but quietly laying on a shelf while you work. She's the total package - smart, gorgeous and good company. ** Due to the unusual circumstances brought to us by COVID-19, we don't know when SUMMER will return to the Carlsbad shelter but the current plan is for SUMMER to return to the shelter around *SEPTEMBER 8* unless an adopter or long term foster is found. SUMMER is available for an adoption fee of $5 (thru end-August; $35 regular) and is fixed, microchipped, vaccinated and waiting to meet her true family. ** For inquiries to adopt or foster SUMMER, please email: ADOPTIONS(at)WAGGINGDOG.ORG ---- SUMMER is not at the shelter. She is with us in foster care, so please inquire with WDR. ---- DiscoverMe Project Information: https://waggingdog.org/discover-me-project/ ---- ABOUT THE DISCOVERME PROJECT: The DiscoverMe Project is a program that allows sheltered dogs from the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services - Carlsbad Shelter to go into temporary 2-week foster care with an approved Wagging Dog Rescue foster home so they can get a break from the stresses of being kenneled while providing mental, emotional and physical relief. While in foster care, we're able to learn more about the dog when in a normal home environment, which doesn't always align with behavior seen in a stressful kennel environment. We share that valuable information with shelter staff and potential adopters in order to aid shelter marketing and adopter selection. Through rigorous marketing and promotion, we ultimately hope not to return the DiscoverMe Dog to the shelter but instead to see that animal safely in the care of a forever family or reputable rescue with a foster care provider.
