Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3. Adoption application at www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thanks for your cooperation!*** WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to come look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around the US and Canada, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable as we need these funds to cover medical bills. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Chase QuickPay, PayPal, or cash. The sadness never ever ends & Tommy has one of those stories. Tommy was surrendered along with 7 of his siblings in CA at the tiny age of 8 weeks. All of his siblings were doing well at the shelter except they kept pushing Tommy out from eating & the shelter said he needed help because of this as they were concerned he was not eating enough & that he was blind. We picked up this little man & straight away could see he had a crusty nose & did not look well. We took him straight to our vets & thank goodness we did rescue him because at the tiny age of 8 weeks he had an upper respiratory infection. Tommy was admitted into the vets hospital where he immediately received treatment & stayed in the vets care for 3 days. We & Tommy had our work medically cut out for us to get Tommy well. After we got Tommy well & his surgeries & all is care with his amazing foster mum he was bought back to WA state from CA where he can't wait to find his loving forever home. This sweetheart of a little man came to us not being able to hardly see at all & since being with us have things changed so much. He now has his sight, our vets believe it could of been a neurological delay with his site. This little mans eyes are so piercing & they were meant to see the world. Tommy is now one very spirited happy little chap, he loves everyone he meets & enjoys being cuddled to. He is going to grow up to be quite a big fellow considering his slow start to life so that needs to be considered when applying to be Tommy's new home. That being said, Tommy is a eater, he loves to eat & he is making up for lost time. With his enthusiasm for food when he does eat he has a tendency to put his whole face into his bowl & the food goes into his nose so every time he eats, inside & outside his nose has to be cleaned. Tommy's new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard. He also needs a full toy basket in his new home for him to enjoy his toys. Tommy has been great with his baths because he started having them with us from a very young age so he is used to them. Tommy rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & still needs continued work walking on his harness & leash. Tommy is a puppy so he is a chewer. We are looking for a forever home for Tommy where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them & there must be another dog or dogs in the home for him to thrive. Tommy loves other dogs & plays & plays & plays all day with them. This is mandatory for his new home. Tommy is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Tommy has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs here in WA & was fostered in CA with other dogs & does well with them but does like to steel their food if he can. It's mandatory for him to be in a home with playful dogs. Tommy is roughly just over 4 months old & 11.6 lbs & is perhaps a shepard mix, male, was treated for a respiratory infection & treated with multiple medications, had a dew claw removed, tested for giradia, microchipped, neutered, up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed. We have spent far more on rescuing Tommy, with all of his medical care getting him well with the upper respiratory infection, neuter, shots, dew claw removal etc in CA & along with transport etc than Tommy's fee covers. Tommy has been around cats since being in the rescue & did well with the cat in his foster home but it's always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had him around small children so we do not recommend small children & it's always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Tommy was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it's always up to the new potential family to decide his breed.
