She received an A+ at the groomer's and her haircoat is coming in very nicely. She went to the vet shortly after rescue from an animal shelter and has a basic exam including blood work for heart worm which came back negative. She had been a stray when she came into the shelter. She is crate and housetrained and walks nicely on a leash by herself or with other dogs. HOWEVER, SHE HAS ONE SPECIAL NEED WHICH SERVICED RECENTLY IN AN ADOPTIVE HOME WHILE SHE WAS ON TRIAL PLACEMENT. THE FIRST WEEK SHE HAD LIMITED ACCESS TO THE HOUSE AND WAS CRATED AT NIGHT WHICH IS THE WAY TO START A NEW DOG IN A NEW ENVIRONMENT. THEN ABOUT DAY 9 SHE WAS LYING ON A CHAIR WHERE THE ADOPTER LEFT A GARDEN JACKET AND SHE HAD INGESTED ABOUT 2' ZIPPER THREADS. SHE DIDN'T HAVE ACCESS TO THAT IN THE FOSTER HOME. THEN ON ANOTHER DAY WHEN SHE HAD MORE LIBERTY IN THE HOUSE SHE WENT BY THE WASHER TO A LAUNDRY BASKET WHERE SHE INGESTED ZIPPER THREADS ON TWO JEANS. NO OBSTRUCTION OR BLOCKAGE BUT THIS IS A CAUSE OF SPECIAL NEEDS. PICA IS A CONDITION WHERE DOGS EAT THINGS THAT ARE NOT FOOD. WITH ROSA IT SEEMS TO BE METAL SO WHOMEVER ADOPTS HER HAS TO USE THE CRATING METHOD WHEN NO ONE IS HOME AND NOT LEAVE ANY ZIPPERED ITEMS, EVEN DOG PETS OR PILLOWS OUT WHERE SHE WOULD BE DRAWN TO THAT. That is why we believe a younger retired couple or single person who is home and can take on this fetish until it stops, is necessary. We started her on a special nutritional supplement to see if its might help. Placement is limited to LA and OC Counties, excluding Antelope Valley in LA.
