About Chief

Meet Chief! Age: 1 year. Breed: German Shepherd Mix. Size: 84lbs. Training: he appears to be house trained. We are working on crate and leash training. He hasn't had many life experiences and has lived on his own most of his short life. He needs a fenced in yard due to not being leash trained at this time, preferably a farm or quiet life. Good with dogs/cats? Dogs, yes. Cats, unsure. Good with men/women/kids? Yes, although he is timid at first and needs kids that understand he needs time and space at first. Once he warms up, he is very loyal! He is fostered on a farm and does amazing off leash. Personality: Chief is very shy at first. He is very playful, he LOVES to chase after a laser light. He is very affectionate and loyal once he warms up to you. Reason for rescue: Chief's owner took him in as a stray when he was just a pup, but couldn't care for him any longer. Chief is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. He would do best in a home with another dog and a fenced in yard. Chief is heartworm positive. He will be sent home with a year's supply of heartworm preventative & medication. He is being treated with a method called the slow kill treatment. He takes a monthly Ivermectin based heartworm preventative and needs to be re-tested in a year (as usual). Please feel free to research and talk this over with your vet.
