About Shirkahn

Shirkahn is 9 years old. He is the absolute sweetest love bug. He's a little skittish at times but he is the most social, instantly loving, attention seeking cat I've ever met. He will lay with you for pretty much as long as you'll love on him and he LOVES getting up into your hair. He's been great with every other cat I've had, the dogs, and my baby. I've never seen him be aggressive to anyone or anything. I've had him since he was a couple months old. Around the 1 year mark he started defecating outside of the box. At first it was by the box. Then it got further and further away. The vet said he had IBS. His poop is pretty much always diarrhea, never more solid than a gel consistency, and sometimes bloody. We tried special diets, steroids, probiotics, nutrient pastes, etc. They have tested bloodwork, taken fecal samples to test for parasites, etc. We have tried every kind of litter imaginable. He has never peed outside of the box and will even poop in it on occasion, but not consistently. It's not a cleanliness issue because we have 5 boxes and it doesn't matter if they've been scrubbed clean and brand new litter put in, he still goes in the floor. The only other things we haven't done and can't afford to do are a GI scope and a behaviorist. I need help finding a rescue or home for him. Someone who understands his issues and is prepared to care for him. My cats have been my world for 9 years. It absolute breaks my heart to even think about rehoming him and what that's going to be like for him, for us, and for our other animals. But we are at wits end and rehoming is our best option for him and us at this point.
