About Scout

This is Scout, a male Australian Cattledog who is just over a year old. He weighs about 42 pounds. Scout is a timid guy so he needs a quiet home with someone who will take the time to work with him. Scout has learned the basics: sit, down, come, and heel. He is working on his place command and waiting until released. He also knows to sit and wait until released to eat his dinner. Scout is house trained, knowing to ask if he needs someone to open the door for him. He is working on crate training. Scout is very focused on his person, so needs a home where someone is home most of the time, or his person always takes him when they go somewhere. Scout gets nervous if left alone. He will also hop the fence if left outside unattended, but is fine if supervised. Scout has learned to fetch, and really likes it if he is given a treat when he brings the ball back. Scout is good on leash and enjoys long walks for 3-5 miles a day. When he sees dogs, cats, and even bunnies while he is on a walk, he doesn't react at all. He just ignores them. That said, he needs to be an only dog in his new home. He is also good in the car and enjoys car rides. He will be a great adventure partner. Scout has met some new folks and is nervous at first. Like with most Cattledogs, he prefers a polite introduction. Therefore, no kids for this guy. This shy guy prefers adults who give him time to warm up. His foster has done lots of good work, so his new home should be ready to continue that. He appreciates gentle leadership, since he can be a bit soft. For his person, he is a total shadow. He also likes belly rubs. Scout is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. He is located in Vista, CA. We do not ship our dogs. He is available for a meeting and adoption in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required.
