About Smokes

Smokes is a 3-4 year old, mixed breed dog who weighs about 40 pounds and we are proud to be able to say that we saved her! Smokes was left at a rural Va shelter by her owners. She was completely terrified and shut down and couldn't be touched in the kennel. We wrangled her out, put her in a foster home and let the healing begin! Smokes is now happy, confident and ready for adventure! She has gotten along very well with the dogs in her foster home but has nothing good to say about cats! Smokes would love a parent who would take her for lots of walks and buy her lots of toys! Smokes does still need slow introductions to new people and may not be the best fit for a home with kids or lots of visitors. She can climb fences so a home where she is leash walked would keep be ideal! She has lots of energy for jogging, hiking or exploring the neighborhood. A reduced fee of $100 does apply for Smokes, our seniors and dogs with special medical and behavioral needs. Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are setting up individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, Va area during the pandemci. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
