The shelter staff think I am about 11 months old, and I have been at the shelter since Jul 29, 2020. Maeneeds to get out of the shelter as soon as possible. Some dogs deteriorate faster than others in incarceration, and Mae is one of those dogs. Here are accumulated notes from staff about her: 7/29/2020 INTAKE ASSESSMENT Dog is very excited and seeking attention from staff. String leash puller. Allowed vaccines and handling with light restraint. 7/29/2020 OBSERVATION Dog was reactive to other dogs. Raised hair while walking to kennel. 7/30/2020 EVALUATION Pulled hard on the leash; excited and jumped on handler for attention while collaring. Quick entrance; excited greeting. Affiliative with the yard lead. Slightly overbearing but engaged in on and off social interactions. 8/6/2020 OBSERVATION Took dog out for a meet and greet. Dog was very friendly but was very very mouthy. Would take correction and go right back to same behavior. Was mouthy with lead and adopter both. Very high energy, was biting leash trying to play tug of war. 8/10/2020 OBSERVATION Did dog to dog intro k9 was overstimulated,very high arousal running in place on leash. K9 Went to smell other calm dog with rushed greeting then immedietley tried to nip at dogs right leg. Used pet corrector spray to break focus, k9 backed off for a short time then resumed behavior,screaming and barking at dog. Ended meet and greet. 8/12/2020 OBSERVATION Difficult kennel pull. tried to push out. jumping and spinning in kennel. erratic on leash, used quick harness. had out in yard. k9 was hyper aroused and could not settle. hyper focused on dog in neighboring yard. when in M&G solicited attention. used treats to redirect attention. demonstrated sit. was very mouthy and jumpy, tried to grab treat from hands. pawed at door when heared other k9s. could not settle. returned to kennel. difficult return. 8/13/2020 OBSERVATION Had k9 out for Meet and Greet dog to dog intro. was heavy panting and drooling when came to front of kennel. jumping and pawing at door and leash. fence fought on way to yard. once in yard. briefly settled when got into pool but remained focused on neighboring dogs. during dog to dog this rushed to greet and did not take verbal correction. their dog was avoidant and was alarm vocalizing. a behavior team member suggested to move dog to larger yard to decompress before returning to kennel. 8/13/2020 OBSERVATION 08/13/20 16:05 settled slightly when in big yard. attempted to jump fence. fence fought one time on return. walked into kennel when treats were presented. 8/15/2020 EVALUATION updating recommendations/requirements based on recent observations dog appears to exhibit high arousal in shelter; adding to extra daily enrichment.
