Slate appeared one sunny day, out of the blue. He was extremely malnourished and had injuries on 2 paws that looked to be bite wounds. I originally was only going to feed him and let him continue on his merry way, as our neighborhood is very cat friendly, but after seeing the extent of the damage, I brought him in so he could have a safe place to recover. It was then that I doscovered 2 unusual behaviors. 1. Affection seems foreign to him. He enjoys the attention and loves human companionship, but it all seems very new to him. We believe he was a stray who just got desperate and lucky to find good help. 2. Slate believes he is a dog. He routinely engages my 3 50-60lb dogs and even convinced my husky that he is a friend, not food. He will need a home with at least 1 dog, any size. He loves being a part of the pack. Slate prefers to spend his days outside, perhaps because my dogs do, but its home every night for snuggles and food.
