About Milk Dud

Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

Milk Dud is a sweet little guy, with a very confident and curious personality. He loves playing fetch & tug, or just general roughhousing - good with other dogs but still learning boundaries and bite control. We've started basic training, but for now he usually only responds when he sees the treat! He'll need very firm, consistent training and structure as he grows. He's a chow / cattle dog mix - these are both intelligent, independent natured breeds and will be challenging for an inexperienced owner. He'll need a lot of exercise, with a varied routine - walking around the block won't cut it with this guy. I would recommend about an hour each day at different parks or trails. Mental stimulation is important for the breed - they need variety in activities, walking locations, and new challenges. Smart dogs tend to become destructive if they're bored or left home alone with too much energy. Don't be fooled by his cuteness, he will test your boundaries every day! Potty training is good. He doesn't like his crate, but is comfortable sleeping on a dog bed in the bedroom. He's not used to being alone, and will need training to become more independent. He's got a dominant personality and a strong prey drive, so we recommend a single dog household, no cats. He seems good with children over 12yo. See Less Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older, and always before being placed in their new homes. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. If you live within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
