About Darcey

Meet Darcey! She was rescued from Pinal County Animal Care & Control in Casa Grande. At the time she was so scared of her mind she was unadoptable. She was actually brought out for our rescue by mistake but I just knew there was no way in heck she would get adopted if she had to stay at the shelter. So I said 'put her in my car' Darcey has been living in my house now for about a month. She loves me but is still very fearful. She trusts me & would let me do anything to her for the most part. She is not a big fan of most of the other dogs here (I have 7 of all sizes & personalities) but as long as they don't overwhelm her space she co exists & tolerates them. I would prefer she is an only dog but she would do fine with a calm dog that won't be reactive towards her. She has never once had an accident. At first, I walked her out on a leash to go potty. She immediately learned the dog door and at this point lets herself out. Whoever adopts her definitely needs to have a crate for her. It is her safezone! So please- don't feel guilty about putting her in one. She likes it & it is like her den. She goes in her crate all the time with the door wide open & when she doesn't even need to be in there. If not crated when unsupervised she may get into the trash or counter surf for goodies. This girl is HIGHLY food motivated & I promise you this is how you will win her trust :) She just needs someone willing to give her time, structure & love! If you are a patient & child free home, preferably familiar with fearful dogs- you may be the home for this diva. Let us know! Her adoption fee is $280. She is dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, microchipped & 4dx tested negative (tick fever, anaplasma, lyme disease & heartworm).
