About Shamrock

Meet Shamrock! He is about 1-year old & guessed to be a Terrier / Retriever mix. He is about 50-pounds. Although Shamrock can get along with some dogs, he would probably do best in a home where he is the only furbaby. He seems to have 'space' issues with other animals and wants to be first, no matter what he's doing. He is extremely smart and knows quite a few commands. He will need his person to be knowledgeable about dogs and/or willing to learn because Shammy will need continued positive direction in order to thrive. He loves people who are familiar to him and does fine with respectful, older children. Shammy knows what kennel means. Once he's in the kennel, he does fine but he doesn't like to go in initially at this time. He is potty trained, and has been learning to ring a bell at the back door when he needs to go out. He has never had an accident in the house. He loves to snuggle in bed or on the couch, loves to play tug, loves chewing on toys. Can be over exuberant when someone new comes in. Putting him on his 'place' and making him stay before answering the door is helpful. He will need continued work with this. Also, making him sit and wait for his food until you give him the ok will help him understand who is in charge. Making him sit and wait until you give him the ok to go out should also be continued.
