About Buttercup

Introducing Buttercup! She is 8 and a half years old and weighs 9.8 pounds. She is the most adorable Pomeranian! Buttercup was an owner surrender who has not been exposed to a lot in her life so she is very timid. She enjoys being near her person, but not too close. She will lie under a table, or under her foster mom's chair or in the chair while she is working at her desk, but for now it's all on her terms. Her foster mom is letting her figure things out in her own time and pace. As sweet as she is we know it won't be long before she seeks out attention and affection! For now she is a quiet girl, who can be a little skittish and hesitant to let you touch her. Buttercup gets along well with other small dogs and may do best in a home with another dog that will help her gain confidence and to take cues from. She has not been around cats or children that we are aware of and we think children would frighten her so we are looking for a home with a older family or single person who will gently love her. Buttercup eats well (both wet and dry food) and we have yet to hear her bark, but she may once she is more comfortable! She is content to sleep in an open crate in the big bedroom. She is very quiet and waits until morning to be taken outside. Her foster mom is working on her potty training and she is doing quite well. Due to her skittishness we are requiring a home with a fenced yard to keep her safe. She initially did try to climb her foster mom's inner yard fence (which about 2 and a half feet tall) so the fence will need to be secure and she should be supervised outside. Buttercup has been to the vet for a wellness check and is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchippped with a lifetime registration. She is being treated for dry eye with antibiotics and will need eye drops at least two times a day for the rest of her life. You can purchase them on Amazon or Chewy and they cost about $13 a tube. The tube will last a couple of months. Her spay and a dental will be scheduled soon and are covered by the rescue.
