QLD - Rocky (m/5y) Looking for his forever home! Current location: Sunshine Coast You may wonder how come that Rocky is still available? Very simple. What happened is that he was ready for adoption, but then suffered from urinary incontinence after his desexing surgery and we had to address that first. After a few weeks he became good and went on adoption trial. Unfortunately not due to his fault it did not work out and he went back to his foster carer. Rocky is the typical boxer who needs strict rules, boundaries, structure, consistency and routines. He is quite vocal when playing (and in general) meaning he makes scary growly sounds which some people find distressing, but it is really only a play growl. You tell him to stop and he will stop. Waiting for his dinner he may growl and shake with excitement because he so loves his food, he learned quickly to wait patiently on his mat and all is good. We are reposting him now although we had lots of applications, but we recently noticed we are spending way too much time chasing up people who applied for him who either do not bother returning our calls or have adopted a puppy in the meantime. We are hoping with a fresh post we will get up-to-date applications of people who are genuinely interested in this boy. Rocky has some anxiety issues and stresses with change, so we have to get it right straight away. I will be honest, we will only talk to people who we believe may be possibly suitable, we cannot consider soso homes. He needs someone around a bit who definitely has boxer experienced and has a firm, but gentle approach. Rocky loves cuddles, pats and belly rubs and playing with his toys. On invitation he will come to your bed, otherwise he sleeps in his. Due to the COVID-19 distancing laws our foster carers find it really hard to test him with other dogs. It seems he is not very impressed about the little fluffy ones, a calm female boxer may be fine. We would definitely insist on a meet and greet. Our foster carers do not have 2-legged children and Rocky being very boisterous and jumping up will knock over small children. We think he should be fine with older (13+) children. Sorry, we do not trust him around cats. Rocky is a small boy and does not have the stamina for hours of walking, it seems in his previous home he was not exercised much. He does love his daily walks though, but if you are a jogger and after a running mate, he is not the dog for you. It takes a bit of time until he trusts you, so he needs some one who can be patient but firm with him and someone who is home more often but someone who will love him like he deserves to be loved, he will make someone a great companion. Rocky's best home would provide: - a comfy bed inside at night - ongoing training to broaden what he already knows - daily walks and interaction with his toys, he likes fun - no cats - possibly a calm female dog, but not essential - older children that are dog experienced could be ok but not essential - your kindness and patience whilst he establishes himself in your home If you think you are the right fit to be Rocky's forever home, please go ahead and complete our link: https://brna.com.au/product/rocky-nsw %A0 Admin note - For those applying with another dog, you must be prepared to travel with your dog for a meet and greet if your application is shortlisted
