About Maribel

Maribel has great potential, but our family situation changed shortly after we rescued her and we do not have the time that she deserves. She is kennel trained and we are beginning to allow more freedom in the house when we are not around to supervise. Generally, she does well, although she does like the trash cans and dirty laundry baskets. She needs lots of toys to chew on but does not chew furniture. She has spent her life indoors with outside play time. She isn't very cuddly but loves belly rubs and back scratches. She has not been on a leash much, as we have acreage (Not a farm) that she plays on. She has a playmate in our daughter's German Shepherd mix and they do well together. The only issues we have is that she has been difficult to train, and sometimes growls at the younger grandkids (4-10) when she is crated or in the outdoor Kennel. This is a recent development and the children are never mean or cruel to her as they are always supervised around the animals. She has no problem with the older children, and is partial to women. Our daughter (who lives on the same property in a separate house) also has cats, and while she might chase them, she has never hurt them.
