About

Adoption Fee: $75
Burmese / Bombay
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Bernard Beaumont is a handsome chocolate black short hair male approx. 2yr. His adoption fee is $75. He has been vetted, neutered, and he tested -Leuk +FIV. He had a family that seemed to love and take care of him but when they moved they threw him out like trash. He roamed the complex crying, begging for help but he was just ignored. To survive he had to fight for food but he didn't do that very well. He was skinny, scared and beaten up when he was rescued. PETS ARE FAMILY MEMBERS. PLEASE GET HELP IF YOU CAN NOT KEEP A PET. MAKE THE EFFORT! IT'S A LIFE! Bernard is a sweet, gentle, mellow boy and a complete people lover. Don't let all his battle scars and crinkle ear fool you. He is a mush pie, a lap cat who will sit in your lap as long as you let him and even then, you will still have to dump him off you when you get up. He is very fit, strong and muscular. Bernard is a people cat, he wants to be near his people, he will want to be where you are and will do his 'cat call' to find you if 'you're missing'. He is a talker and has the 'brrrowww' meow haha. He has an amazing personality and just wants to be loved and paid attention. He thinks he is a dog. He has manners, he has class. He is easy but fun and goofy. He has led a rough life in the hands of mean heartless people. Bernard tested negative for Felv (leukemia) and tested a very faint positive for FIV. The vet was very surprised considering he received such a healthy summarization and had no difficulties with his neuter. If you are at all familiar with the latest information, you know that, even though he wants to be an only pet, a FIV positive cat can live just fine with other uninfected cats and not transmit the virus. They no longer have to be adopted into homes with only other positives. The disease is transmitted by deep bite wounds from intense fighting typically from unfixed cats. They can also live long healthy lives. This link has a lot of good information if you are concerned. http://members.petfinder.com/~PA588/FIV_Information.htm We don't suspect any adjustment period will be needed here, he will go into his new home and own it. He loves interactive toys like feather on a stick and shoe lace drag as well as the Fling ama String and the $2 'cat dancer' toys. He loves kitty treats, a rectangle corrugated scratcher that lays flat on the floor and a tall cat tree sitting in front of the window with sun rays beaming in. He will expect to share your bed. He has been free fed quality hard food (quality meaning the first ingredient begins with meat) and gets up to a can of Fancy Feast morning and night. Below information is for preventative purposes'| Too many male AND female cats are getting the UTI - urinary tract infection and crystals in their urine. It's a blockage, it's painful and if ignored will lead to death. Vets say the hard food is at fault because it does not deliver enough liquids. It's simple to monitor. Just make sure there is at least one good size pee ball in the litter box a day. Kitty fountains are effective to help manage a cat's fluids. A diet of good quality canned food pate is better than dry food however there are some dry foods that are pH balanced and help maintain Urinary Tract - UT health like Blue Buffalo, Purina Pro Plan, Purina One UT health, Iams UT health.
