About Piper

Adoption Fee: $100
German Shepherd
Age: Senior

Meet Piper Rescued and safe'| Calling all senior dog lovers! Piper needs you. We rescued Piper (and her friend, Bear) from Cobb County Animal Control when their owner wasn't able to care for them due to health reasons. Bear being younger had rescue, but Piper was in danger of being euthanized. Bear and Piper have lived together for a while, including in foster care most recently, before they came to our shelter. When their futures became uncertain we wanted to make sure they were able to stay together and find soft places to land. They arrived at our shelter on July 26, 2020. Bear has since been adopted. Piper is a beautiful purebred German shepherd. She's a senior girl at 10 years old. She is blind. Piper gets around very well though and relies on voices or presence to know where her person is or doggie friend is. Piper was in danger of being euthanized. In our opinion no dog deserves to die just because she's old and blind. That's when they need us the most! Her personality is terrific. She's easy-going, just a love of a dog. She's in good health, but does need daily enzyme powder on her food to ensure that she's able to process it, but it's easy to manage. She's very calm and gentle. She walks well on a leash and she rides well in a car. She has beautiful manners. She enjoys sunning herself in the yard and quietly taking in the sounds around her. Piper longs to live in a quiet, calm place where she can feel safe. The unknown and unexpected noises of the shelter are tough on her, but she bravely deals with her new circumstances. She loves sleeping and she eats well. She likes her walks in the forest and will gingerly and slowly feel her way forward. Piper gets along well with Bear and it would be great if these two could be adopted together, but it's not necessary. Piper seems to like calm male dogs versus females and cats don't seem to be an issue. Piper is a remarkable girl, who's had a tough go in life. Our greatest hope is to find this girl a place where she can live out the rest of her days in gentle kindness and quiet. If she can go with her bestie, Bear, so much the better. He helps to guide her and she knows when he is around. If you're able to open your heart and home to Piper please get your application in. This exceptional dog deserves a chance at a loving home.
