GYPSY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine GYPSY is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, heartworm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. She weighs around 44 pounds and is approx 2 years old. We have no idea the exact breed of any dogs so it is up to you to look an decide what you feel the breed is and be sure you are familiar and capable to care for that breed or breed mix. NEEDS TO BE THE ONLY DOG! Gypsy is such a sweet girl who doesn't do too good in the kennel environment, she gets stressed and worked up. She is not good with other dogs so cannot but put in a communal area. Outside of the kennel she is a dream girl. She is happy, fun, very loving and affectionate and gentle. Of course being a rescue she does jump a little but that is just because she wants to get as much attention and love as she can. A volunteers brings her 9 year old children over to play, socialize and walk the dogs and Gypsy is fantastic with them. The kids can easily walk her on the leash with no worries, she is very responsive and a lot of fun. Gypsy needs a family that doesn't have other dogs and most likely not cats. she is an active girl and so an active family is very important. She needs to be able to run and burn off her energy and hiking, walks and times at the beach or lake would be perfect for her. Training is imperative for any new dog going to a new home, not only for obedience but also for trust and respect. Away from dogs Gypsy is a dream girl for any family with or without kids. She has a little quirk in that she will try and play tug with your feet, this is something that she most likely did as a puppy and the people who owned her encouraged this behaviour instead of teaching her no. She is very responsive when told no, but if she thinks it is a game she will continue to grab at your feet. She is not attacking you, she is just playing - it will be very easy with training to teach her that this is not acceptable. Be sure to check out the rescue website for more pictures and videos. All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed. All dogs are fed Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison. Rachael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor's second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars. GYPSY is available for an adoption fee of US $300. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of saving all of the dogs we do, the running, upkeep and maintenance of the rescue. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.
