ANDY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine. ANDY is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heartworm & tick disease tested, negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He weighs around 22 pounds and has a date of birth or approx 2 July 2019. The shelter has him labelled as a German Shepherd Dog, but he is very petite with a thin frame. We have no idea the exact breed of any dogs so it is up to you to look an decide what you feel the breed is and be sure you are familiar and capable to care for that breed or breed mix. Andy is a very sweet, gentle boy with a slightly submissive nature. He is always smiling and great with other dogs of all ages, sizes and personality. He has lived in the communal areas with over 20 dogs and has been fine. He isnt' a dog to charge around and wrestle but happily to play and chill with the smaller and not so crazy active dogs. He has a petite frame, so be sure to check out more pictures and video's on the rescue website to get a better idea of his size as pictures can be deceiving. Andy would benefit from an active family to go on walks and adventures. He would make a great family pet as he is so loving and gentle and has been great with the few kids that volunteer with their mum at the rescue and is always happy to get some fuss and love. All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed. ANDY is available for an adoption fee of US $550 This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of saving all of the dogs we do, the running, upkeep and maintenance of the rescue. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. All that is needed to take dogs into Canada is a copy of the adoption contract (receipt) and current rabies for pups over 3 months of age. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
