About Tina

Meet Tina - URGENT Hello, this is Tina, she is a courtesy post and her story is a tough one. Sadly for the past 2 years Tina has lived in a shelter, She is only 4 years old, and about 70 lbs. Tina's handler is looking for an experienced foster because she has trust & guarding issues. Her handler is trying to save her life. A foster or permanent caregiver for Tina would have the support of the handler and others. This person would have to really want to give Tina a chance. She cannot be with other pets or children. She unfortunately does have a bite history. Are you her angel? Here is her story. Tina was picked up as a stray in the Hamilton Township area. She can't speak so she can't say if she was abused, beaten, locked up or whatever happened to her. She cannot tell you if she is physically hurting or if she doesn't feel well. Tina's handler had her evaluated by two different behaviorists because she is now at risk. Here is what the consensus was: Behaviorist #1, July 11, 2020: Tina becomes uncomfortable with unsolicited attention, even from people she is familiar with. Tina became comfortable fairly quickly once there was no pending threat of the unknown, i.e. hands coming toward her face or overhead. I believe Tina can do well in an adult-only home, preferable with one, calm, low energy person and a structured/routine/emotionally safe environment. She does not need to be escalated or amped up. She would do best receiving only treats that consist of 1-2 bites, no long lasting treats as they can provide a source of stress for her. This (very) slow systematic approach would be best in helping Tina desensitize to her current environmental triggers as well.
