About ALVIN & ALFIE

Adoption Fee: $1000
Yorkie / Jack Russell
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

ALVIN was saved with his brother, ALFIE, from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine. ALVIN is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heartworm & tick disease tested, negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He weighs around 13 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of 24 June 2019. We have no idea the exact breed of any dogs so it is up to you to look an decide what you feel the breed is and be sure you are familiar and capable to care for that breed or breed mix. ALFIE was injured when the boys were picked up by animal control. X-rays showed that he had a broken leg, that had already started to form a callus, the body's way of self-healing and so surgery was not an option. The shelter reported that ALVIN was very protective of ALFIE which was most likely due to him suffered an extensive injury and suffered a lot before they were picked up. At the rescue the boys have done great and you cannot really tell that Alfie had an injured leg, although at times he will hop/limp a little on it. It should be noted that he would benefit from bone and joint supplements throughout his life as arthiritis is going to set in and monitoring for pain and discomfort should be monitored, especially in colder months. For two boys that have endured so much, they are larger than life, they are very affectionate, very sweet, mischevious and in true terrier character want to explore everything and everything is an adventure. ALFIE tends to follow ALVIN's lead, but they are never far apart. They are desperate for love and affection and will follow me everywhere and whine at my bedroom door to let me know that I have left them lol. Although small, these boys are active and their terrier breed shouldn't be forgotten over their adorable faces and precious personalities - they are active, fun, loving, mischevious and always there for cuddles and laughs. They love to play together and are happy to play and wrestle with the other dogs, not intimidated by the 120 pound German Shepherds that they live with. These boys deserve a wonderful family who can give them all the love that they deserve along with an active lifestyle full of adventures and places to explore. We are adopting ALFIE & ALVIN as a bonded pair. All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed. All dogs are fed Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison. Rachael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor's second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars. ALFIE & ALVIE are is available for an adoption fee of US $1,000. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of saving all of the dogs we do, the running, upkeep and maintenance of the rescue. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. All that is needed to take dogs into Canada is a copy of the adoption contract (receipt) and current rabies for pups over 3 months of age.
