About Shirley

Shirley is a ten-year-old Chiweenie that arrived at our shelter in pitiful shape. She had long twisted overgrown nails, a mouth full of smelly broken teeth, and a skin infection that left her coat sparse and brittle. She was unable to walk properly due to her painful feet and that led to pain in her back and hips. The condition of her teeth prevented her from eating a proper diet; which in time led to her skin issues. We whisked her off to our Vet for a 'mani-pedi' and a much needed dental. After her glitz and glam treatments, she soon was trotting across the room without any problems and enjoying meals without pain. She loves to snuggle in your lap and receive massages now that her skin has healed. Shirley's breath is much sweeter when she thanks you with kisses. All this sweet senior needs now is someone to open their heart and home to her. She's the perfect companion for a retiree or someone who is home most of the day. Though she does well with children, it would be best if they were older. Shirley prefers her home be calm and quiet so she can take her daily nap. Early morning walks or late night strolls are all the exercise she requires. A doggy door would enable her to use the facilities at her leisure and a fenced in yard will protect her from predators. Shirley is an affectionate pup who loves snuggling up close to you on the couch and under the covers at night. She'll listen attentively to your troubles and never share a secret.
