About LIAM (west)

Siberian Husky mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Hi, my name is LIAM ID#A4439317. I am a neutered male, black and tan Siberian Husky mix. The shelter staff think I am about 2 years old, and I have been at the shelter since July 7, 2020. This beautiful boy is scared and bit the finder on the hand when she was trying to scan him. He is scared in the kennel, too. Liam appears to do well with other dogs. He may be adopted to the right family, but will need time to decompress and will require a lot of patience and understand. His time is running out. Liam will need an approved foster or forever home. Here are some of the notes expressed by staff: EVALUATION - 7/7/2020 OBSERVATION Dog was leashed when I arrived. He walked well to the truck, but would not allow me to muzzle wrap and lift. He began to thrash on the leash. A snare was used and dog is VERY vocal when pressure was applied around the neck, no matter how snare was adjusted. Unloading from truck, dog allowed leashing. walk almost to the kennel and then once through the door, did not want to walk and began thrashing on leash once again and very vocal. I was able to get in kennel and remove leash. 7/8/2020 INTAKE ASSESSMENT Dog growled when approached. A snare was used and dog is VERY vocal when preassure was applied around the neck, no matter how snare was adjusted. Dog was placed in a bucket and transported to kennel. 7/17/2020 EVALUATION Barking when handler approached gate; turned away, barked, vocalized during leash placement; with pressure on leash, vocalized/screamed; startled easily, walked to play yard; very flinchy, gradually started to soften, but handler did not place collar 7/18/2020 EVALUATION tolerated leash placement; appeared to have sentivities around neck- yelped/head-flipped when handler attempted to place collar, lip-licked; handler was able to gently/carefully pet dog, but dog appeared more sensitive to having something placed around his neck.
