About jack

1.5 year old Australian Shepherd; medium size. We live in a small city and we have to keep him on a cable when he is outside. My wife is retired and I still work 50 hrs a week. These dogs have a lot of energy. He is very smart, beautiful and loves to play. We love him very much. This was our first dog so he could hang out with my wife wile I was working. I think he would be awesome on a farm or with someone with a lot of land so he could run. Now for the bad news, he has bit a few times, which for the most part has been on the hands. This past Saturday we had our 28 year old neice come up to camp with her dog. It was a hot day and after swimming she went to change and as my neice and wife walked by him on the cable he lunged for her. unfortunately, the cable broke at the clasp. My neice ran and Jack went after her and bit her on the back of the lower calf (herding) and she needed some stiches. We think that someone that knows Australian Shepherds would be awesome owners. Take the biting out of him and he is simply perfect. Absolutely no other behavior problems! I think he can be an great dog for the right person. We are in upstate NY. We could not give him to just anybody. It needs to be a good home with the knowledge of his breed.
