Hi, my name is INDIE - ID#A4443267. I am a spayed female, brown Australian Kelpie mix, and I weigh about 33 lbs. The shelter staff think I am about 8 months old, and I have been at the shelter since Jul 19, 2020. Indie is a frightened little girl who will need patience, understanding and training. She seems to get along with other dogs. Here are the limited notes about Indie that are available to us at this time: 07/19/20 Field Capture: k9 cornered self and I had to move slowly in order to place slip lead and pull from corner as he was in corner with dogs in the yard and confined dogs attempted to bite me through the fence. K9 fought slip lead and I had to pull into another corner where dog calmed down and allowed me to muzzel wrap and carry to the truck. Once in truck kennel k9 fought me holding him and attempted to bolt out of truck kennel. 07/23/20 Enrichment Nervous in the kennel; handler closed to one side. Not leash trained; tolerant of collar placement. Nervous entrance and greeting. Slowly gained confidence; easily overwhelmed but engaged in on and off social interactions. Wary of the yard lead. 07/25/20 Play Enrichment Retreated from handler in kennel; ducked away from leash placement; once leashed, pulled back, flailed against leash; did not walk on leash; in yard, dog was avoidant of handler, sat in a corner; ducked/flinched away from petting on head/body; handler carried back to kennel. 7/26/20 Meet and Greet: M&G w potential adopters; dog was at front of kennel with tail tucked, allowed leash placement; walked a few paces out of kennel then froze; slowly picked up/carried to yard; cornered self in yard, tail tucked and wide eyed throughout; tensed/side eye at touch; nervous throughout; did not take treats directl from handler but ate tossed treats from floor; stress-yawned multiple times; carried back to kennel, allowed leash removal; immediately retreated to back of kennel.
