About Brent (west)

Hi, my name is BRENT - ID#A4430185. I am a neutered male, gray and white American Pit Bull Terrier. The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 1 month old, and I have been at the shelter since Jun 17, 2020. This dude is basically a puppy who does not understand why he is stuck in a kennel all day/night. Brent was able to interact with other dogs when he came to the shelter, but the high arousal and reactivity that has kept building up has made him an only dog at this time. BRENT is struggling and needs out of the shelter. He needs to decompress and have the chance to settle, learn, and reset. Here are notes from staff about Brent: 6/17/2020 INTAKE ASSESSMENT Very excited and all over the place, allowed all handling and walked to kennel on leash. 6/18/2020 EVALUATION Excited in and out of the kennel; often vocalizing. Quick entrance; pushy and excited while greeting. Affiliative with the yard lead. High energy and rambunctious with the other dogs but remained social. 6/27/2020 OBSERVATION Canine is highly aroused in kennel, barking excessively. Placing on daily enrichment board, and marked for walk daily on walk board. 7/1/2020 OBSERVATION Did a dog to dog intro with member of behavior team. this dog was highly aroused and would not settle. continued to be invasive with other dog and did not read cues. attempted to mount multiple times, did over heads, and tried to pin other dog. the other dog gave cues but then over corrected and this dog responded with trying to establish himself further. separated dogs, this dog attempted to briefly fence fight on return. but walked fine into kennel.
