About Bear

This little man is Bear, a 4 year old male Australian Cattledog who weighs between 27-30 pounds. Bear is a timid guy. He is looking for a quiet home (no kids, small family, not lots of comings and goings) where he can feel stable and have someone keep working with him to show him how great life can be. Bear knows a few basics: sit and heel. He is crate trained and working on house training. He isn't quite sure of the dog door yet but will follow another dog through it. Bear is fearful of folks. He needs people to allow him to approach them on his terms, otherwise he wants to exit the situation. He tends to prefer women to men. Bear is okay with other calm dogs who give him space. He will let them know if he needs them to leave him alone. With a calm and respectful dog, he takes their lead in seeing how the household works. Bear likely needs to go to a home with a confident dog that he can learn from. Bear is just starting to learn how to have fun. He is fine on leash, but will try to bolt if spooked. He is also learning about car rides and getting over being nervous there. As for fetch, he is starting to show interest but currently prefers to play keep-away. Bear's adopters have to be vigilant that he doesn't spook and get loose. Time, patience, and structure will help, which is how he is making such good progress in his foster home. When he gets to know his people, he is quiet and cute. He has a happy little bounce in his step when he relaxes and is very entertaining to watch.�%A0 He also enjoys neck scritches and chest rubs.�%A0�%A0 Bear is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. We do not ship our dogs. He is available for a meeting and adoption in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required.
