About Carmen

Meet Carmen! Carmen is a 7 year old boxer/pit mix. Carmen is looking for her perfect forever home, one with no small kids, and either no other animals, or a friendly dog her size her larger. She does ok with other dogs after she's had time to adjust, but is very nervous around children. A year and a half ago her family had a baby - Carmen was very anxious from the beginning, but mostly kept her distance. Now that the little one is up and moving, it is clear that this is no longer the best environment for Carmen. Her family loves Carmen so much, and only want what is best for her. She has been their baby and best friend for over 6 years. She was adopted when she was 9 months old from the Franklin County Dog Shelter. She has completed some training at National K9 in Reynoldsburg where they worked on leash and pop collar commands. She loves to please, and has learned numerous commands/tricks, some of which are coupled with hand signals. Her favorite activities are taking walks, sitting outside in the sun, watching out the windows, playing tug of war, chewing on bones, and most of all snuggling under blankets on the couch. She would do best in a home with a fenced in area, but would also be fine with regular walks. She is up to date on all shots, and has been seeing the same vet now for over 4 years. Carmen does have some skin sensitivities, and gets both seasonal allergies and semi-frequent ear infections. Both of which have been very easily treatable with medication. She is currently on medication for anxiety (Trazadone), but would be able to be tapered off of it once she is rehomed with her new family, as her anxiety began when baby came home.
