About Raindrop (west)

Pointer mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Hi, my name is RAINDROP - ID#A4430253. I am a spayed female, white and brown Pointer mix. The shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 1 month old, and I have been at the shelter since Jun 17, 2020. Raindrop has some social interactions with dogs and people but is kinda shy at first. She will need time. Kennel removal is hard so that is putting her in danger. She also has been able to jump 4 foot fence at shelter, so potential adopters should supervise her when outside in yard and provide secure containment. Here are recent notes from staff who spent time with Raindrop: 7/1/2020 OBSERVATION Unfamiliar male handler approached kennel, dog started barking; took treat from handler, then softened when leash presented; handler was able to pull dog from kennel; explored play yard; slightly tentative with unfamiliar handler, but approached; handler was able to pet; dog explored yard. 7/6/2020 OBSERVATION At front of kennel when handler approached, moderately energetic with tail wagging; easy pull from kennel, pulled moderately strong on leash; sought attention from handler and leaned into petting but appeared more interested in exploring; somewhat aroused when re-entering kennel building, pulling toward other barking dogs in their kennels, but easy to return to kennel and easy leash removal. 7/9/2020 OBSERVATION Per adoption staff member - during kennel pull for meet-n-greet, dog's body looked relaxed; while placing loop of leash over dog's head, she bit staff member's arm (did not break skin); did not pull; placed orange card, behavior will review dog. 7/11/2020 OBSERVATION Dog wearing e-collar; energetic, but otherwise easy kennel pull; pulled on leash; explored; handler removed e-collar without issue; leaned into petting and continued to explored yard; higher arousal on return to kennel, pulled toward other dogs; handler dropped treats to kennel to distract dog from other dogs, removed leash without issue. Please consider giving this 'at-risk' girl a chance at life before she goes on the list for euthanasia.
