Buster needs an experienced large dog owner. I adopted when about 10 months. (Currently 4 1/2). The first couple years were great, could heal off leash, played at dog parks, walks in busy Chicago. He then had an unfortunate incident. Attacked from behind while being held down. He has since been preemptive, regardless of threat. He has been to boot camp, did great, played well with others. Start walking better with pinch collar, but still getting into red zones. Training with buzz collar. Works like a champ, but only if it's on when needed. Today he got out and he spotted a beagle walking by, immediately charged. Fortunately I fought him off with the beagle undamaged. I also had to board him a couple days last month. No signs of aggression for this boarding place. Per the breed he is very protective. He'll bark and stop anyone from walking in until I acknowledge. Buster loves snuggling, playing with balls, swimming, fetching logs in the water and singing. Yes he sings to many commercials and some songs. I fostered a young pointer female, easy intro and wrestled together for hours. He can no longer be with an older male pit mix he lived with for 3 years. He knows cats rule. Finally believe I have his skin allergies under control with daily Zyrtec. His hip dysplasia has gotten less noticeable the past couple years. Swimming therapy helped. I've always had big dogs, fostered large dogs for several years, but have to face the fact I can not control Buster to the extent needed for this powerful 87lb dog.
