Here's a Pandemic Personality Quiz question for you...Your community cancels its annual fireworks display, so you: a) purchase your own potpourri of pyrotechnics to dazzle (or annoy) your neighbors, b) go to bed early because, you know, '2020 is a total disaster anyway,' or c) sit outside, watch the stars come out one by one, and marvel at their beauty. If you answered 'c,' then you might be the perfect person to offer a home to 1-year-old Bocephus. Arriving in a mostly feral state, this handsome 20-lb. Rat Terrier had possibly never known the touch of a human hand or the comfort of a soft bed prior to coming into New Rattitude's care. As a result, Bo is extremely shy, and while he has never shown aggression, it takes him a long time to trust people. An overzealous approach can make him crouch and freeze. Bo is making great progress, however, and recently melted his foster mom's heart when he approached her for the first time to nuzzle her hand with a request to be petted. When Bo goes to his new home, it may take him a good month to reach that level of trust again, so he's going to need an adopter with the experience to give him the space he needs and the patience to encourage and appreciate slow, steady progress. Needless to say, he will do best in a quiet home and one without children. He will also need a fenced yard because he's not yet comfortable walking on a leash. Fortunately Bo loves other dogs, and a friendly, playful, well-behaved fellow canine companion would serve as a great role model for 'all things dog.' (He won't object if you have cats too.) Bo has learned how nice it is to be living indoors, and he has great house manners. He is fully crate trained and is working hard to become a master at house-training. Providing him with regularly scheduled opportunities to go outside will help him avoid any accidents inside. Bo is discovering the joy of playing with toys, and one of his greatest pleasures is to remove all the toys from his toy box to take to various locations around the house. After all, a dog--even a formerly feral one--has to have the proper equipment (for play) available at all times and at all locations! See more photos of Bocephus at https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/bocephus , and you just may decide that sparklers and rockets can't hold a 'roman candle' to nurturing this quiet, gentle boy. NOTE: Applicants should live within a couple of hours' driving distance of Locust Grove, GA in order to keep Bo's travel time to a minimum. ------------------------------------------------------ IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BOCEPHUS, please go to new Rattitude's website at http://NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.
