About Kaya

My name is Aimee Handin. I live in Fort Lauderdale. My boyfriend, Darren, owns a pit/lab mix named Kaya who he found 5 years ago on the street, covered in scars and scabs. The cops told him they had broken up a fight ring in the area and she was likely a bait dog. He took her home and loved her into the most wonderful, loyal, sweet baby. She is roughly 7 now and she loves people again and most male dogs. She also loves my small havanese/poodle mix! Darren and I moved in together roughly 3 weeks ago, and on the 2nd day there, Kaya managed to dig out from under the fence (she has never done this before) and attacked my neighbor's cat, leading to an animal control call and a muzzle order. Our landlord is now threatening eviction if we don't rehome her. We are already overwhelmed with COVID related stressors, and we are heartbroken to have to give up our little girl. We are reaching out to you because we know that there are very few people with room in their hearts or homes for a scared little pitbull with a troubled past.
