My family and I had a home, and we were a happy pack, but not a socialized family of 5. We were, Mom, Dad and 3 siblings. Our human family didn't pay much attention to us, so we got into trouble as you can imagine. I mean, they never even NAMED us!! One day our owners dumped us off at the animal shelter. All of us! We got all split up in that scary place! Dad went somewhere in a pen with other males, Mom got put in another end of the building with some other females, and we were all the way on the other end of the place in a pen on the little dog side. We had never been alone before and it was pretty traumatic. OK that is an understatement. I've never been more terrified in my very short little 16 week life! We were scared and all alone for several days. Then all of a sudden a lady from IMPS came and got all 5 of us out and took us to her house. We were so glad to be together again! At first my siblings and I were scared and didn't trust anyone or anything, but in a few days we decided that this place was great! We got to come in the house, get on furniture to nap, eat in there with no flies or ants trying to get our food too, and it was cool in there. No more baking in the Central Valley heat having to try to find shade in the yard as an outside dog. That IMPS lady was sure nice too. She had lots of other dogs there and they all loved her. One night, my mom just couldn't take it any longer, She had to go see why all those other dogs were taking turns getting in her lap and she was petting them and loving all over them. Mom jumped right up on to her lap for her turn. I was sure watching to see if mom lived through it and sure enough she did! Well I just couldn't stand it. If mom could do it so could I! I just boldly jumped right up there too. Guess what? She petted me and scratched me, and it felt like heaven! It made my body tingle with warmth and love for this human. Needless to say the rest of the family got right in there too, and now we are all loving the attention we are getting. We've learned that humans are great and so is our life now. So far we are learning that outside on the lawn is the place to do our business and I've gotten really good at it. There is a doggy door with this flap thing that you hit and it swings open. Then all you have to do is jump through it real quick so the flap doesn't hit you in the head. It does that if you are not quick enough... Then I go outside, do my business and go back in. That flap thing goes inside too so I push it real hard then jump fast and Walla I'm back in the house so I can check on my human to see what she's doing. I've gotten pretty attached to her. I've learned to sleep in this crate thing and I eat in there too. My foster mom gives me toys to chew on, so I've left her shoes and other things alone. She says I'm a great little dog. She says my only issue is that I talk too much. Well, and sometimes I talk too loud too, but we are working on this. Because of me, Toby, loving to talk so much I might not be the best apartment dog but I'd be fine in a house with a big yard and a human who's home a lot so I can feel safe with them. The only thing missing now is a home of my own. I'd sure love to have a human all to myself! I am willing to share with another dog if I need to. I'm getting neutered on July 28th , whatever neutered is..., and I'll be ready for my new home right after that. If you think you could love me and be my forever family could you please hurry and turn in an application and get it approved so when I'm ready, you will be too. That way I can meet you sooner. I can hardly wait! I'm excited just thinking about it!
