About Mollie E

Adoption Fee: $200
Maltese
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Sweet little senior Mollie E is looking for a special home. Mollie E is 7.5 pound Maltese mix who was dumped at a shelter when her family did not want her anymore. We originally thought she was 10 years old, but the vet thinks she is closer to 12. She has had a thorough vet exam, with lab work, urinalysis, and a thyroid test. Unfortunately the results were not so great. Mollie has been diagnosed with kidney disease and hypothyroidism. Due to her increased kidney values a dental is not recommended at this time as we had originally hoped to get her. The vet does think she has been previously spayed because she has an abdominal scar and he could feel a scar on the abdominal wall. She is now on a prescription diet food and benazepril for her kidneys and thyroxine for hypothyroidism. Hopefully these medications will help her kidneys. These medications are fairly inexpensive but she will need to remain on them, plus the prescription diet food, the rest of her life. Mollie E was a mess when we got her. She had an ear infection, a bad flea infestation, tapeworms, and kennel cough. She has been treated for all of her various ailments, but still has some hair loss due to the flea infestation. She is also blind in her left eye and has a cataract in her right eye. The fatty tumor near her left front leg does not need to be removed at this time; it was tested and cytology showed no cancer cells. Mollie E is very sweet and not needy at all. Based on her condition when she came in we know she was not taken care of and we don't think she got much affection with her old family either, certainly there was not enough love there for them to keep her forever. Which is really a shame as her foster mom says she is the best little dog! She is doing great with her house training when taken out often and will also use puppy pads when she can't get out in time. Mollie E gets along fine with the other small dogs in her foster home. She has not been tested with cats and she is far too delicate for a home with children. She is up to date on all vaccinations, is negative for fecal and heart worms and has been started on heartworm and flea preventative. Mollie is a wonderful little doll that needs a special adopter to open up their heart and give her love and care she needs and deserves for the rest of her life. If you would like to open your heart and home to this special senior please submit an adoption application to meet her. She really deserves all the love in the world for as long she lives!
