About Rusty

Meet Rusty Meet darling Rusty, a young (about two years) loving boy who wants to please. He's had some basic training and tries hard to do his best! He's great friends with our other Misfit dogs, walks well in harness, and is alert and always checking with you to see what's next! He is a cautious first-time greeter. He wants to sniff you and hear your voice and think a bit about who you might be before he relaxes into the love sponge he really is inside. He may have had some bad prior experiences with strange men, so go slow at first meeting. Kennel and house trained, he loves people, and uses his Mind Toys (rubber chewy toys with treats inside) to great effect. He's a very smart dog and needs someone who can be firmly consistent with love and training. He just wants you to love him! He enjoys car rides and will just lay down and enjoy the motion. Rusty was dumped at the boat ramp at Lake Nacogdoches with a choke collar that would barely turn and was zip tied on. He would just sit by the dumpster and wait for his person to return. Heart-worm NEGATIVE. He is up to date on vaccinations and on HW prevention. Weight 61 pounds. Age approximately 1-2 years old. Rusty is like the energizer bunny. You can NOT wear him out. He loves loves tearing across the yard for a tossed tennis ball. If you are looking for a couch potato friend, he would NOT fit the bill. He would love to share a home with another high energy dog that would say yes to 'chase me'. Because he is high energy, and needs firm reminders NOT to jump on you, he would be best suited in a home with older children. Transportation can be arranged.
