About Diesel

Adoption Fee: $300+
American Staffordshire Terrier / Pit Bull
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Diesel is currently located in So California with his trainer Diesel is a great dog. He is very affectionate, sweet and just overall a really cool boy. He enjoys running on our treadmill (really loves it!) and will just jump on it and run on his own. No joke. He is great with female dogs and mellow male dogs who aren't dominant. He does fabulous with our Chihuahua mix, he may sniff him but otherwise doesn't care. He is a very mellow fellow and doesn't require a whole lot. He will not tolerate mounters. When we are doing yard work he enjoys walking the property and peeing on everything. He is a leg lifter. He hasn't lifted his leg in the house. He loves to be pet, scratched and will roll over for belly rubs. He is neutered and current on vaccines. He isn't a jumper, meaning he doesn't jump on us. He absolutely enjoys being outdoors but would need a solid 6 foot fence so he can't jump over it. For some reason he still tries to slide through our front gate from time to time like he has to go home or something? It's super odd. Diesel doesn't like our outdoor kennels but is great in his crate. He isn't allowed to drink as much water as he wants because he can't hold it for long if indoors. He absolutely loves meal time and knows how to sit and give eye contact before he eats even though he can't help but wiggle a whole bunch lol. He isn't the best treat taker (does chomp!)and will eat food if left unattended which we have never done with him around but I know he would do it if given a chance. He snores when he sleeps, loves daily walks and does well when being bathed. He just jumps in the tub with a little help. The most excited he gets is when he is getting belly rubs so be careful of his feet, he will kick. Diesel has a hernia but vet says unless it's causing him pain just leave it alone. Diesel will eat almost anything so if he's out of his crate he has to be watched. I have caught him eating towels, paper towels, computer paper, stuffed toys, sheets and sometimes blankets when placed in his crate so I only place them in his crate at night when it's bedtime and then take them out in the morning. I suspect his age to be around 8-9 years of age but I'm no vet so it's only a guess by the way he moves and his energy level which is a low-medium. He is honestly a big ball of love wrapped in more love. Weight last checked was 59-61lbs? He also enjoys hunting lizards but doesn't go looking for them so his prey drive isn't high. Recommendation: Placed with a low active home who can walk him daily because he will get frustrated if not given exercise. I don't feel male dogs are a good idea but not impossible. Cats unsure but I would say no. Small kids are iffy due to his treat taking manner (chomper). Older kids ok. Female dogs are fine but with the proper intro. Needs a medium size yard. Preferably placed with a manly man as he just doesn't seem like a women's dog but I could be wrong and anything is possible. Someone home most of the time. Someone who will take him places because he is obsessed with car rides.
